CONTRACEPTION & SEXUAL HEALTH

WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY

What is an emergency?

An emergency is when you need help straight away. For example you might need emergency contraception or be in pain.

I need the emergency pill, but the clinics are closed

If we are closed, there is information on our answering machine to help, telephone 020 7267 4792. You can get free emergency contraception from some chemists, from Accident & Emergency at your local hospital. Over 16's can buy it over the counter at any chemists, the costs is £25.

What should I do?

Contact the centre by telephone or drop in and talk to our medical staff to get advice on what to do. We will do our best to fit you in to see the doctor or nurse, or advise you on the most appropriate place to go.

Why would I have to go elsewhere?

  • The doctor or nurse is unavailable.
  • You have dropped in without an appointment and the clinic is too full to fit you in.
  • You need specialist help or hospital assistance.
