Presentation for Adolescence Development
Geoffrey Baruch will be one of the speakers at the conference dealing with the subject of Adolescent Development, which is being held at the University College London. This will be taking place in the Medical Sciences and Anatomy Building, UCL, J Z Young Lecture Theatre, Gower Street, London WC1E 6BT. Sexual Health Outreach
Our Contraception and Sexual Health Service Coordinator, Katrina Wright, is now on maternity leave for 12 months. Kirsty Appleyard is covering whilst Katrina is away and will be training in sexual health outreach work over the next couple of months. Geoffrey Baruch will be speaking at the 'Evidence-Based Psychotherapies in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Practice' day conference, held at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He will be speaking on 'Implementing and Evaluating Multi-systemic Therapy with Families of Persistent Young Offenders in the UK - Initial Reflections and Observations from a Longitudinal Trial'. He will begin his presentation at 9.30am.
Annual Report for 2005/06
The new Annual Report for the Brandon Centre is in the process of being compiled and will be available by the beginning of August. These will be mailed out to funders and supporters of the Brandon Centre around the same time.

The audited accounts should be passed at the next Management Committee on July 13th and be ready for inspection.
Current and New Dates for Parenting Groups
The Centre is currently holding a Thursday evening Parenting Group run by Brandon Centre Therapy Staff and are looking to start another evening group around the middle of July 2006 - we will confirm the date of this as soon as possible.
Staff Annual Picnic
We are delighted to have set the date of this year's picnic for Friday 28th July. Once again the ladies team intend to try and thrash the mens' team at rounders - (as they didn't the year before last) well... at least they'll try.
Sexual Health Outreach
Our Contraception and Sexual Health Service Coordinator, Katrina Wright, is due to go on maternity leave at the end of August. We will be employing a person for 12 months who has good reception and administration skills, but also, will do some training with the SHET team and, in time, make a contribution to the outreach work developed by Katrina in the Gospel Oak area.
New Date for Parenting Groups (old news)
Due to popular demand, Geoffrey Baruch and Charles Wells will be holding a further parenting group on 1st June 2006, directly after the 2 current groups finish their run at the end of May.

The new Annual Report for the Brandon Centre has been compiled and mailed out to many of our contacts. The reception so far has been positive. A focus of this year's report is users views of the help they received at the Brandon Centre. Several young people volunteered to write accounts of their experience, which are included in the report.
Dedicated to Reaching Out into the Community (old news)
The Brandon Centre plays a key role in contributing to the development of Camden Primary Care Trust's Teenage Pregancy Strategy by increasing awareness about sexual health and contraception among young people, especially young men, through the work of the Cetre's dedicated outreach worker Katrina Wright. Katrina works alongside the local Sexual Health Education Team. She works in local schools, colleges and other youth organisations. This year she has taken classes at several mainstream schools including Haverstock School, Camden School for Girls, Parliament Hill School and William Ellis. She has also taken classes at two local Pupil Referral Units, including, 115 Brecknock Road, Agincourt House and Chalcot EBD School for Boys. Katrina's outreach work extends to Camden Youth Offending Service, KickStart on the Wedling Estate and Castlehaven Youth Inclusion Project where, with the young people that attend the project, she is making a short video about situations that put young people's sexual health at risk.

The new psychotherapy post has now been filled by Jane Boots, who will engage with young people and referrers on an outreach basis as well as providing sessions at the Centre. Jane's work will provide a one-to-one therapy service for young people who are unable to leave their homes or unable to get to the Centre and marks a new way forward for the Brandon Centre.
Parenting Group Commission (old news)
The Brandon Centre was approached by the Local Pupil Referral Unit at Agincourt House to run an extra Parent Group specifically for them. Geoffrey Baruch has agreed to do this and the group will be taking place in early 2006.
Counselling and Psychotherapy Evening Availability increases (old news)
Due to the high level of demand for appointments in the evening, the Brandon Centre has decided to open on a Thursday evening to cater for young people after school or work. We hope this extension on a Thursday will reduce the waiting time for early evening appointments.

Parenting Group Carries On (old news)
Continuing the success of the 2 Parenting Groups held in September 2005, the Brandon Centre has set a date for a new group of parents which will start on Friday 28th October 2005. Geoffrey Baruch and Charles Wells will once again lead this group.

Following the success of previous Parenting Groups held at the Brandon Centre, due to the volume of referrals 2 further groups started on the 1st and 2nd of September 2005. Geoffrey Baruch and Charles Wells are the group leaders.
New Psychotherapy Post (old news)
As a result of funding from Camden PCT, the Centre recently advertised a new part time psychotherapy post. The successful applicant will engage with young people and referrers on an outreach basis as well as providing psychotherapy sessions at the Centre.
Multisystemic Therapy Project (old news)
The director Geoffrey Baruch has been invited with the directors of MST projects from Norway and Holland to contribute to a seminar in Belfast on 20th September 2005. The Atlantic Philanthropies are hosting the seminar, which aims to disseminate multisystemic therapy in Ireland.
